PART 1

Analysis

Scientific analysis of digital textbooks describes the current state of development and evaluates existing implementations.

Scientific Analysis

The DEM project includes a scientific evaluation aimed at understanding the current landscape of digital textbooks. This analysis forms the basis for developing effective, accessible digital educational resources. It involves a detailed review of existing digital textbooks from partner countries, with a focus on Mathematics and Geography for primary (grades 3 and 4) and secondary (grades 7 and 8) education.

Development of a Criteria Catalogue

A robust criteria catalogue was developed for the analysis, covering the following areas:

Design

Evaluating the visual layout and user interface of the digital textbooks.

Technology

Assessing the technical functionality and performance across various platforms and devices.

Accessibility

Examining the extent to which digital textbooks are accessible to all students, including the use of alternative text, video captions, and screen reader compatibility.

Didactics

Evaluating the pedagogical effectiveness and relevance of the content and instructional strategies employed in the digital textbooks.

This systematic approach provides critical insights that inform the development of both the guidelines and prototypes, ensuring the production of high-quality, accessible digital textbooks.
